Ready to help shape the future of maritime safety?
Technical Support Engineer
Application deadline: 10 September 2026
Every year, several thousand vessels around the world sail with safety equipment from Martin Bruusgaard on board. For more than 60 years, we have built a strong position as one of the leading providers of detection solutions to the maritime industry. Today, our portable gas detection solution is installed on more than 3,000 vessels worldwide.
We are known for The Bruusgaard System (TBS), which monitors the status of our customers’ vessels, helps ensure that the correct instrumentation is on board, and supports calibration and maintenance in accordance with applicable requirements and regulations. We also provide other solutions designed to enable crew members to carry out as much maintenance as possible themselves on board. This reduces costs, improves safety and simplifies logistics for our customers.
We are now entering an exciting phase of growth and are looking to strengthen our technical team. We are expanding our offering from portable gas detection to include fixed gas detection systems, while continuing to invest in digitalisation – with the myBruusgaard customer portal playing a central role in how we work with our customers, and artificial intelligence becoming an increasingly important tool in the years ahead.
About the role
As part of our technical team, you will have varied and interesting responsibilities in a fast-paced and active environment. You will work across the organisation and develop a broad understanding of our products, solutions, customers and operations. A typical working day may include:
- Providing technical support to customers and colleagues
- Troubleshooting, technical problem-solving and basic servicing in our service workshop at our Sandvika office
- Adapting and further developing technical documentation
- Contributing to the continued development of myBruusgaard and other digital tools
- Using AI tools actively and appropriately in your day-to-day work
- Participating in technical projects and development work
What we're looking for
We believe this role could suit someone with a technical background and good commercial understanding, a recently graduated engineer, or a candidate with relevant hands-on experience. You should enjoy working with customers, have a good technical and digital understanding, and be interested in learning about new products and solutions.
Relevant experience could include customer service, technical support, troubleshooting, fixed detection systems, or other technical and data-related solutions. Experience from the maritime or oil and gas industries would be an advantage.
- Good technical understanding and problem-solving skills
- An interest in digital solutions and the use of AI tools
- Good communication skills in Norwegian and English
What you’ll bring
To succeed in the role, you should enjoy working efficiently, be able to prioritise, and be comfortable handling several tasks at the same time. The position offers excellent opportunities for professional development and broad experience across technical support, gas detection, digital solutions, development and project work.
We are looking for someone who:
- Takes ownership and gets involved to ensure tasks are completed on time – being reliable comes naturally to you
- Is technically curious and solution-oriented
- Is thorough and systematic, and enjoys creating effective routines and ways of working
- Is collaborative, eager to learn and comfortable with a high level of activity
- Takes responsibility and cares about quality
What we offer

- Colleagues who genuinely enjoy their work and their field
- Thorough training and ongoing support
- A fast-paced environment with plenty of activity and varied responsibilities
- The opportunity to develop broad technical expertise
- The opportunity to work hands-on with new digital solutions and AI
- Social activities, both planned and spontaneous – and occasionally trips away together
- Spacious, bright offices with easy access to public transport
- Competitive salary, pension scheme and bonus programme
Finding the right person matters more to us than ticking every box. We therefore encourage you to apply if you believe this could be the right role for you – even if you do not meet every qualification listed above. Applications will be reviewed on an ongoing basis.
